  It was already nightfall when the carriage arrived at the Temple of the Elders. Soldiers greeted the arriving Empress and her daughter, their lanterns lighting the entrance. As Luciana looked at the large building in the soft yellow glow, she sighed. This was her new home.

  "Sara," she called, worry gripping her. She grabbed her mother's hand, pulling her towards the stairs. "Momma, we must hurry."

  Jerico was waiting in the large entry hall, bowing in respect to both the woman and the child. "Your safe return warms my heart, your Majesty."

  Emmanuel stepped away from the sacrificial table to the small marble pedestal a few feet away. He glanced at the scroll upon the stone, beginning his chant once again to call upon his demon god. Taking the iron forged, black handled athame to his hand, he sunk the blade into the brewed potion before him. Turning from the large fountain, he stepped back to face his daughter. The child just stared blankly towards the two moons in the sky as they drew closer together, unable to break free from the hypnotic state she had been placed under.
