  Despite Sara's inability to use the gold to hire a guide, the money proved quite helpful. The thought of traveling only at night due to Luciana's vampirism was not a pleasant thought. Sara bought a heavy wool cape and gloves for the girl which would protect her from the sun, so they could make some distance during the day. She also purchased a new bow and some arrows for Fariet, as she wanted to assure he had the best weaponry on their journey. For herself, she found a small bola and a rope with a claw hook.
