Hello everyone! It's that time of year when the air becomes colder and snowflakes begin to fall from the heavens, the landscape becomes covered by a blanket of white.. (depending on where you are in the world that is. :'D ) So, do you know what that calls for?! That's right an OC Winter/Yule/Christmas Contest! A strong wind blew in from the north. The Black Torrent shivered, pulling his cape around himself. For a late May evening, it was unseasonably cold. The change of weather had happened quite dramatically and it almost seemed there was something more in the air than a mere chill. Breaking into a run, he hoped the movement would warm him up. He darted to the edge of the building, leaping over to the next rooftop. As his feet hit the slate, a buzzing came from his belt. He pulled out the small communicator, recognizing the code for Officer Derek Blank. He switched on the device.

The group of five were beginning to feel weary as they finally reached the outskirts of Wind Hallow. It was a small village not far from the edge of the vast Nightwinds. There were small fields on all sides that were mainly used for crops, but in the center were shops and inns for travelers to re-stock before continuing on their journeys. Already they were to an area where the sun shone for a few hours a day.

"I'll be happy to have some daylight," Sara sighed.

Luciana never liked the idea of returning to Loreithia, she had a much happier life at the Gale Home with Sara. After all, everyone made her feel like she was loved and that she belonged. Despite Sara's inability to use the gold to hire a guide, the money proved quite helpful. The thought of traveling only at night due to Luciana's vampirism was not a pleasant thought. Sara bought a heavy wool cape and gloves for the girl which would protect her from the sun, so they could make some distance during the day. She also purchased a new bow and some arrows for Fariet, as she wanted to assure he had the best weaponry on their journey. For herself, she found a small bola and a rope with a claw hook. Not nearly as sophisticated as her bola and grappling back home, but she hoped it would suffice.

Anguished screams and pained cries surrounded her and all Luciana could see was death and destruction, and a never ending veil of red. Many times she had felt guilty for what she was, never having wanted to be a vampire in the first place. Still all she could see was the blood and hear the pained voices of the many victims, not only of her own doing, but those murdered by her father.

Every time she had slept since arriving back in Loreithia, it was nothing more than one nightmare after another, the dreams reminding her of her painful past and her destiny. She didn't know how long she could last under the pressure. S

   "We've reached the Gray Mountains!" Luciana exclaimed with both excitement and relief.

   "At last" Fariet sighed as he took the girl's hand.

   The forests gave way to vast fields along the mountainside. The team could see dozens of families and refugees making their way to the entrance. The Temple of the Elders was magnificent. It had been carved into the mountainside, creating a miniature city which was magically protected so that no evil could enter. Ahead, the group could see mighty stone pillars and windows carved into the stone and a grand staircase leading into the mountain temple itself.

Emmanuel stepped away from the sacrificial table to the small marble pedestal a few feet away. He glanced at the scroll upon the stone, beginning his chant once again to call upon his demon god. Taking the iron forged, black handled athame to his hand, he sunk the blade into the brewed potion before him. Turning from the large fountain, he stepped back to face his daughter. The child just stared blankly towards the two moons in the sky as they drew closer together, unable to break free from the hypnotic state she had been placed under.
